The Good-O-Meter: Are You Good Enough?

It’s a common perception that doing good things gets us into heaven. But is being a good person what it takes? Or performing good works or acts of kindness? What about living a life devoted to giving to others? What about being baptized as a baby and going to church everyday? What if your husband or wife is a believer, does that automatically get you into heaven too? What if you never lie, never cuss, never cheat, and think on nothing but love all day long?
Check out this video skit below that answers the “good enough” question in a fun way.
- “We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.”–Isaiah 64:6
- “Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.”–Colossians 1:22
- “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”–Ephesians 2:8-10
