Feelin’ Vietnamese in Philly? Try Pho Cafe Saigon

Feelin' Vietnamese in Philly? Try Pho Cafe Saigon | June's Journal image 2

If you live in or near Philadelphia, PA, and are “feelin’ like eating some vietnamese” food, have I got a recommendation for you!

You’ve got to try what’s called the “Special Fried Rice” on the menu of Pho Cafe Saigon, a Vietnamese reseruant on 42nd & Spruce (4248 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-4040 to be exact).

Cooked fresh to order, you’re sure to love this dish packed so full that you can split it with a friend.  It has rice, onions, egg, shrimp, chicken, peas, and scallions.  And while you’re there, if you don’t mind consuming refined sugar, order a smoothie!  They make them with fresh fruit but they also throw in a huge scoop (or two or three) of sugar so beware.  They are definitely delicious.

I can’t vouch for anything else on their menu (although I heard their Pho is very good) but I can certainly say that the special fried rice really is special!  It’s not really a place you eat in at although you can; there is outside seating.  We always order to go. In fact, we call ahead and order so that it’s ready when we get there.  Their number is (215) 222-6800.  Of course, if you get smoothies, order then in person so that they aren’t melted upon your arrival.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with making it a special fried rice night if you’re cravin’ asian food and feelin’ Vietnamese!
