Django Unchained: To See or Not to See?

I haven’t seen Quentin Tarantino’s movie, “Django Unchained” yet, a Western with slavery as the backdrop of an epic love story.
I’ve only seen the interview that Oprah Winfrey had with Jaime Fox who stars in the movie along with Kerry Washington. (You can watch the interview below.) This movie is quite the talk among one of my circle of friends. I compiled some of the articles they shared with me, both “for and against” Django. I thought you might find some of them as interesting as I did. Shout out to my friend, Avril Speaks, who wrote one of the articles listed below! Today is Day #9 of her journey to watch 60 movies in 60 days. Check her out.
I have so many mixed views and takes on the movie. I love history. So with knowledge of slavery before seeing the movie I watched to with different eyes. With that said, most of America watching this movie I don’t think is watching it from that same educated perspective. It’s just a movie to some. But this movie creates so many opportunities for much needed conversations that otherwise may have not been possible.
Thanks for you feedback, free2talkag. I plan to see the movie soon. Although with my schedule lately, I may end up watching it on DVD or on-demand. I’d love to view it so that I can form my own opinion after reading all of the interesting articles (for and against) about the movie. Some of the comments I’ve read reminds similar comments about Tyler Perry’s movie, “For Colored Girls.” I agree with you that it opens the door to spark some overdue discussions.
